The youth of the International Socialist League (ISL) have launched an international solidarity campaign expressing support for the ongoing mass movement in Jammu Kashmir and condemning the repression faced by the people during the current political crisis.
Featuring young socialists from countries across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, the video highlights the international character of solidarity with the struggle in Jammu Kashmir. Participants from Argentina, Germany, Cuba, France, Italy, Brazil, Ukraine, Colombia, Austria, Paraguay, Spain, Peru, Nicaragua, Lebanon, and Kenya each deliver a message calling attention to the situation and expressing support for the movement’s democratic demands.
The video begins by drawing international attention to the developments in Jammu Kashmir before stating that, for nearly two months, the people have faced violent repression. It condemns the crackdown on protests, points to the deaths, injuries, and arrests reported during the movement, and expresses solidarity with those resisting repression.
The statement also voices support for the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), recognising its role in articulating the demands emerging from the movement. It calls for an immediate end to repression, the release of all political prisoners, the withdrawal of occupation troops from Jammu Kashmir, an end to the blockade affecting the population, recognition of the JAAC, accountability for those responsible for the violence, and the full restoration of democratic rights, including the freedoms of organisation, assembly, and peaceful protest.
Concluding the video, participants declare that the voices of the youth of the International Socialist League are rising in solidarity across the world and call on the authorities to accept the demands of the people of Jammu Kashmir.
The initiative reflects the growing international attention being paid to the movement in Jammu Kashmir and demonstrates that the struggle for democratic rights is finding resonance among socialist youth organisations beyond South Asia. As solidarity actions continue to emerge in different countries, the ISL youth campaign adds another international voice calling for an end to repression and respect for the democratic aspirations of the people of Jammu Kashmir.
