Across several cities, Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign (PTUDC), Revolutionary Students Front (RSF), and Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) organised commemorative programes to highlight the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. The events brought together workers, students, and political organisers to analyse the legacy of 1917 and discuss its continued relevance amid the deepening global capitalist crisis.
Quetta
On 8th November, to mark the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution, PTUDC held an event at the Quetta Press Club titled “The Russian Revolution and Today’s Struggles.” The event was presided by PTUDC Chairman Nazar Mengal, while the chief guest was PTUDC International Secretary Imran Kamiayana. The stage was moderated by PTUDC leader Yousufi Baloch. Speakers included JKNSF’s former Central President and PRF Central Organiser Rashid Sheikh, RSF Central Organiser Awais Qarni, renowned poet and writer Dr. Saleem Kurd, Saeed Lahri, Communist Party leader Farhad Rind, Comrade Shakeela, PTM representative Parwana, Comrade Maria, Khair Muhammad Shaheen, and Ameenullah Durrani. Master Zafar Ji presented a revolutionary anthem. Speakers discussed national liberation movements, and the global struggles of workers, peasants, and oppressed classes in the context of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. They emphasised that the revolution remains a guiding light for all those fighting for socialist transformation.
Rawalpindi
On 23rd November, to mark the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution, PTUDC, RSF and JKNSF organised a commemorative event in Rawalpindi. Students, youth, and leaders of various trade unions participated. Speakers included Dr. Changez Malik, Asif Rasool, Fauzia Rajput, Dr. Amir Raza, Omar Abdullah, Halal Khan, Khaleeq-uz-Zaman, Rehana Akhtar, Rajesh Kumar, Ramzan Laghari, and Shahid Raza. The event was moderated by Israr Shabbir. Speakers discussed the historic significance of the Bolshevik Revolution, its relevance today, and the urgent need to prepare for revolutionary change. They stressed accelerating efforts to build a modern Bolshevik party. The programme concluded with a summary by Asif Rasheed, followed by the singing of the international workers’ anthem.
Hyderabad
On the 108th anniversary of the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution, the Pakistan Trade Union Defence Campaign (PTUDC) organised a seminar in Hyderabad on 7 November 2025 titled “The Bolshevik Revolution and the Asian Spring.” A large number of students from various educational institutions, workers, and trade union leaders participated. Speakers paid tribute to the Bolshevik Revolution and highlighted the wave of mass movements emerging across South Asia and the world, discussing in detail the legacy of Bolshevism.
Swat
The Revolutionary Students Front (RSF) Swat organised a study circle in College Colony on the topic “The Fire That Never Died: Gen Z and the Echo of the Bolshevik Revolution.” The session was led by Sangeen Bacha, who traced the journey from the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution to the crises of modern capitalism. He stressed that a revolution betrayed is not a revolution defeated, and that the lessons of Lenin and Trotsky remain essential for today’s youth. Participants discussed how the collapse of the USSR represented the failure of bureaucracy—not socialism—and how Gen Z across the world is rediscovering revolutionary ideas in response to capitalist decline.
Lahore
On 9 November 2025, a Workers’ Festival “Mazdoor Mela” was held in Labour Colony, Kahna, to commemorate the Russian Revolution. A large number of factory workers enthusiastically participated. The event opened with a speech by Mujeeb Akbar, who discussed the current conditions of workers and the necessity of a socialist revolution. Comrade Dr. Tahir Shabbir inspired participants with revolutionary poetry, followed by passionate performances of revolutionary songs by Comrades Farukh and Jawad. The event concluded with an address by the chief guest, Advocate Ilyas Khan, Chairman of the Lawyers’ Revolutionary Movement. He analysed the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution in the context of present-day conditions and elaborated on the need to overthrow the anti-worker system to establish a workers’ state. Comrade Faiza performed the duties of stage secretary.
Dadu
On the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution, PTUDC organised a seminar in Dadu on 9 November 2025. Students from various institutions, along with workers and trade union representatives, attended in large numbers. Speakers paid tribute to the Bolshevik Revolution and also analysed the country’s current economic and political crisis in detail.
Wah Cantt.
PTUDC organised a session in Wah Cantt. on the topic “The Russian Revolution and Today’s Struggle.” Participants discussed the deepening crisis of global capitalism, which has plunged humanity into economic, social, cultural, journalistic, and political decay. They noted that no region of the world remains untouched by the destructive impacts of the system. Speakers emphasised that the era of reforms has ended and the hard-won rights of workers are being rolled back. They affirmed that despite its shortcomings, the Russian Revolution remains a shining example for the working class. It proved that a workers’ state can be created—and successfully run. They concluded that socialism remains the only system capable of putting humanity back on the path of progress, and that a socialist revolution is the only road to liberation.
Sewhan
The Revolutionary Students Front (RSF) Sehwan organised a study circle to mark the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution.
Hajira
The Jammu Kashmir National Students Federation (JKNSF) organised a study circle in Hajira to mark the 108th anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution. The discussion focused on “The Russian Revolution of 1917, the current crises, and the Revolutionary Alternative.” Participants examined the lessons of 1917 in the context of today’s global crises and explored the need for a modern revolutionary alternative.
